Dead Zone Revive Medic Build Guide
Keep your squad alive with combat healing, smart positioning, and support weapons.
The Medic is Dead Zone Revive’s sustain specialist. Medics share a critical capability with the Leader: in-combat healing for themselves and allies. Unlike the flexible Leader, Medics arrive with fixed low combat stats outside healing ?lowest Melee Combat, lowest Improvised Combat, and among the lowest Ranged Combat values on the roster. They move faster than Fighters but slower than Recon, wield pistols and SMGs competently, and sit on low-mid Health that punishes front-line play. Medics win missions by preventing squad wipes, not by topping damage charts.
Use this guide for loadouts, positioning, squad doctrine, and investment timing. Compare baseline stats in the Class Overview and meta placement on the Class Tier List.
Why Medics matter
Early missions survive on medkits alone. As Scavenging Missions stretch longer, hordes densify, and alliance raids introduce sustained player damage, medkits alone cannot keep a Fighter Build alive through focus fire. Medics convert near-wipes into successful extractions.
Compound defense during Compound Setup sieges similarly rewards healing over time. A wall of Fighters without Medic support collapses once damage exceeds inventory healing.
Medics rank lower on solo farming tier lists but climb sharply for alliance and high-tier PvE ?context matters more than letter grades.
Healing mechanics in practice
Medics activate healing during combat to restore themselves or nearby allies. Effective Medic play means staying in range without drawing primary aggro. Let Fighters and Engineers hold choke points while you stand one tile back in cover.
Leaders built with Medic stats can supplement healing, but dedicated Medics free the Leader to fight or loot. Do not duplicate Medic roles unless running dual-heal alliance defense comps.
Medkits remain valuable ?healing abilities have cooldowns and resource costs depending on current Early Access tuning. Carry backups for burst damage spikes.
Weapon and loadout guide
Pistols
Reliable, ammo-efficient, sufficient for finishing weakened zombies that leak past the front line. Craft pistols from the Weapon Tier List mid tiers ?do not chase Fighter-grade rifle schematics.
SMGs
Higher close-range DPS when your squad gets swarmed. SMGs fit Medic movement speed and help contribute chip damage during heals downtime. Mod for stability and reload speed.
Avoid
Assault rifles, LMGs, long rifles, and improvised primaries ?proficiency penalties waste crafting investment. Melee is last-resort only.
Armor
Medium armor balances survival with repositioning. Heavy armor slows escapes when you must break heal range to dodge grenades or raider flanks.
Consumables
Stack medkits even as a Medic ?you cannot heal if you are dead from a one-shot burst. Smoke or distraction tools help when alliance raids focus healers first.
Use the Loadout Planner to verify heal range and weapon DPS before raid night.
Positioning doctrine
Follow the tank ?stay behind the Fighter or Engineer holding the doorway.
Pre-heal spikes ?when audio cues signal horde waves or raider pushes, pre-position for burst healing.
Extraction order ?Medics exit before Fighters but after Recon scouts confirm the path. Never lead extraction on high-threat maps.
Line of sight ?broken LOS cancels heal value. Recon can call clear paths; do not heal through blind corners unless mechanics allow.
Squad pairings
| Partner | Why |
|---|---|
| Fighter | Absorbs damage Medic converts to sustained presence |
| Engineer | Long sieges need heal throughput at barricades |
| Scavenger | Protects economy runner during accidental pulls |
| Recon | Calls safe heal windows during fast clears |
| Leader (combat) | Dual layer when Medic heals and Leader DPS |
Standard progression squad: Leader, Scavenger, Fighter, Medic ?add Recon when timers tighten.
Mission types
Long indoor scavenges ?Medics pay off on multi-floor buildings where retreat is costly.
Alliance defense ?mandatory for serious factions holding Compound Setup during raid hours.
Boss or high-density PvE ?any mission where DPS checks exceed medkit throughput.
Skip short safe farms ?solo low-tier runs may not justify Medic opportunity cost until roster slots allow.
Recruiting and investment timing
Recruit a Medic after Scavenger and Fighter for most accounts. Gear pistol or SMG to viable mid-tier before luxury mods. Healing effectiveness may scale with gear or stats ?prioritize survival items that keep the Medic alive to cast heals.
Second Medics appear in large alliance rosters running simultaneous defense teams, not in early solo compounds.
Leader versus Medic
Leaders can heal but spread stats across five attributes. A dedicated Medic commits fully to support weapons and positioning practice. If you are solo with one roster slot left, Medic beats Leader Medic stats for raw heal throughput in alliance content.
Common mistakes
Front-lining ?Medics die first and the squad follows.
Rifle hand-me-downs ?proficiency waste; check Items: Weapons for SMG and pistol paths.
Ignoring Fighter pair requirement ?healing without a damage sponge wastes sustain.
Skipping Getting Started medkit basics ?abilities supplement kits, not replace them entirely.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for survivors in the Dead Zone.
Can Medics heal outside combat?
Combat healing is the Medic's defining trait. Out-of-combat recovery still relies on medkits, compound facilities, and time ?check current patch notes for any passive regen changes.
Is Medic mandatory for alliance play?
Serious alliance defense and coordinated raids expect Medic sustain. Casual alliances may scrape by with medkits until content difficulty forces recruitment.
SMG or pistol for Medics?
Pistols for ammo-efficient support. SMGs when your squad routinely gets swarmed in close quarters.
Should I build Leader as a Medic instead of recruiting one?
Combat Leaders with some Medic stats work early. Dedicated Medics outperform for alliance heal throughput once you have roster slots.
Why is Medic ranked lower on some tier lists?
Solo farming tier lists undervalue healing. Medic tier rises sharply for compound sieges and long scavenges where wipes cost more than slower DPS.
